Teachers Florence

The EUROLAB Certificate Program in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies (LBMS) in an English-speaking weekend format is directed by Antja Kennedy. She teaches the entire program together with the core teachers Elisita Smailus and Pierluigi Grison.

Guest teachers such as Peggy Hackney, Lorella Rapisarda & Nunzia Tirelli will cover special topics and application areas. All teachers are trained in LBMS and are professionals in different areas such as: dance, therapy and pedagogy.


Antja Kennedy

Since 1983 freelance dance teacher, dancer, choreographer and movement analyst. Certificate in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies (CMA) in Seattle, Washington, USA (1984). Bachelors Degree in Dance at Empire State College, New York. Certificate as a practitioner in Movement Pattern Analysis by MOTUS Humanus, Denver, USA. Certificate in Movement and Bodywork, GALA/Gaia University. She is a co-founder of the Tanzfabrik Berlin and worked 10 years as a dancer, teacher, choreographer and organizer. She is a founding member of EUROLAB e.V. and worked for 12 years  in the executive committee.


Since 1992, she has taught at several nationally recognized dance trainings and at various universities. In 2001 she was a guest lecturer at the University for Music and Performing Arts, Frankfurt. In the summer of 2003, she was guest professor at the University of Hamburg, in the Department of Sports/Movement Science. 2000-2013 she taught at impuls, Bremen, a vocational school with state recognized degree, mainly the subjects dance improvisation and bodywork. Since 2002 she has performed solos almost every year in various contexts (among others, “Tanz Bremen”). She is a part of the steering committee of Global Water Dances and has directed the performances in Bremen (2011) and Bremerhaven (2013).


Since 1990, she has been teaching and since 1995 directing the EUROLAB Certificate Programs in Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies. She has published several articles and a book in German ( "Bewegtes Wissen"). A recent article in English was published in „BODY-LANGUAGE-COMMUNICATION, an International Handbook on Multimodality in Human Interaction“, 2013.

Elisita Smailus

Diploma in Social Economy (1987), Social Dance Therapist (ZW-tk, 1990), Certified Movement Analyst (CMA; Berlin 1997), Diploma of Advanced Studies TanzKultur (2008) and Master of Advanced Studies TanzKultur (University Bern, 2011).


Continued studies for Moving Cycle Practioner (University Heidelberg, 2013-15) and in Kestenberg Movement Profile (St. Gallen, 2013). Choreological Summer Studies at Trinity Laban (2008-10). Training in Vocal Dance and Voice Movement Integration (Amsterdam, 2001-03). Since 2012 in training to become a Creative Soma-Therapist, Germany.


Working freelance in the field of educative arts and social therapy in Switzerland and Germany: 

Assistantship in LBMS-Program (Berlin, 1999-2000). Conception and conduction of the yearly based 5-weekend-format LABart-Basic program "Connected Body - Dynamic Form in Space" – four times in Freiburg/Emmendingen, three times in Lugano, and once in Karlsruhe). Teaching LBMS and creative dance at a private Movement Teacher Training School (Zurich, 1999-2005). Teaching the "Basic Body Work" weekend module in a social dance therapy program (Freiburg, 2004,2007,2010); Guest teacher for the Laban Movement Analysis modules in a dance therapy program (Hamburg, 2012-14). Assistantship in a dance and art therapy program  (Gunzenhausen, 2016-18).

Pierluigi Grison

He graduated in Padua as a Professional Nurse at the Civil Hospital.

He graduated from the Desmond Jones School of Mime and Physical Theatre in London and studied contemporary, classical, jazz dance and Pilates. He works for 20 years as a mime dancer performing in the most important theaters in Europe and South America. He participates in various mime-dance happenings in Italy, France, Slovenia ... as mime, director and choreographer.

He has collaborated with RAI and Slovenian TV as choreographer and assistant director of some world-visions for young people. He has held numerous workshops with young people from all over the world. He was part of theater and dance companies. He worked in Operas at the Teatro Comunale di Firenze.

He is passionate about Dance Theater studying with some dancers of the company of Pina Bausch in Essen, Germany.

In 1998 he left for New York, obtaining a master's degree from the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, and was certified as a teacher of the Method at the world level. He works at the School of Italy in Manhattan, at the Metropolitan Opera House and with the American Ballet Theater as a mime-dancer.

He returned to Italy and attended the 5th Advanced Course of Modern and Contemporary Choreography - The Danza da Vicino Theater, sponsored by the Municipality of Rome, Department of Cultural Policies - in collaboration with the University of Roma Tre il Dams.

He signs the choreographies of the musical "Aquero" and "I ragazzi di d. Zeno"

Later he obtained the Pilates Method Diploma with the Pilates International Network. TRX Suspension Training, BOSU Workout, ORBIT, Antigravity and Motr.

He was co-founder and pedagogical director of Istituto Laban/Bartenieff per lo studio del Movimento.

He is a teacher and choreographer of dance theater, mime and body expression with "Imago Lab" and "Socialisarte" - Florence.

Artistic Director of "FluEn Motion Studio" in Figline and Incisa V.no, FI.

Collaborates with Socialisarte for teaching and organizing events and shows.
